Anthony Gordon delivered the decisive blow that brought Arsenal’s unbeaten Premier League streak to an end and allowed Newcastle to narrow the gap to the top four with a 1-0 victory.

The first half, marked by its fast pace and intensity, lacked quality in the attacking third.

Kai Havertz’s reckless challenge escaped a red card, but it ignited a scuffle that led to four players receiving bookings.

Bruno Guimaraes, too, narrowly avoided punishment for an accidental contact with Jorginho’s head.

Tensions remained high in the second half, but the game’s stalemate was finally shattered in the 64th minute when Anthony Gordon scored from close range, capitalizing on David Raya’s mishandling of Joe Willock’s cross from the left wing.

Despite Arsenal’s late efforts to find an equalizer, Newcastle continued their impressive unbeaten run, now standing at seven consecutive matches without a defeat in the top flight.

The result leaves Arsenal in the third position, trailing the top spot by three points, with upcoming matches against Liverpool and Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Newcastle occupies the sixth spot but has closed the gap to Arsenal to just four points.

Newcastle’s upcoming schedule includes a Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, followed by a visit to Bournemouth on Saturday.

Arsenal, on the other hand, will host Sevilla on Wednesday before taking on Burnley in a league fixture on Saturday.
