Netflix shuts down ‘The Witcher’ production after crew members contracted COVID-19

Streaming giants, Netflix has shut down the production of “The Witcher” season 2 after four crew members tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.

“The Witcher” showrunner Lauren Hissrich made the announcement in a tweet on Sunday.

“Hey, the world is turned upside down — so thanks for the love and support for our little corner of it. We Witchers are okay. The health and safety of our crew and their families come first, and we will do whatever we need to do to protect them. We’ll be back soon. Xx,” she said.

Although the lead cast are not among those who tested positive for the virus, Netflix will conduct an isolated round of testing for everyone involved with the TV series.

Filming at Arborfield Studios, west of London, is due to resume once the streamer is confident that the set is fully safe.

Recall that production on “The Witcher” was also halted back in March, when actor Kristofer Hivju, who plays Nivellen on the show, tested positive. The show did not return to production until mid-August, in accordance with the UK’s COVID-19 filming protocols.
