The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has warned students, parents, and guardians about a fake website falsely claiming to offer student loan applications.

In a statement on Monday, the Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, said the fraudulent message claims that President Bola Tinubu has ordered the reopening of the loan portal. The message includes a fake web link.

“The attention of NELFUND has been drawn to a fraudulent message currently circulating online, falsely claiming that President Bola Tinubu has directed the reopening of the NELFUND Student Loan portal,” the statement read.

Oluwatuyi described the fake portal, [https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/](https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/), as completely false and warned students not to fall for it.

“We wish to categorically state that this website is FAKE, and the information contained in the message is false and misleading,” she said.

She stressed that the only official portal for loan applications is [https://nelf.gov.ng](https://nelf.gov.ng) and asked students to avoid sharing personal or financial details on suspicious websites.

According to her, NELFUND remains committed to transparency, safety, and fairness in handling loan applications, and will only share updates through verified platforms.

She also asked students to report any suspicious websites or messages to the fund’s official email: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).

Oluwatuyi listed the fund’s verified social media accounts as follows: @nelfund on X, @nelfund on Instagram, and Nigerian Education Loan Fund – NELFUND on Facebook and LinkedIn.
