A nine-year-old girl simply identified as Grace has shared her experience after three different men allegedly molested her.
Speaking in a video shared by an X user, #Alex Onyia, on Saturday, the girl alleged that one of the men named Ebube visits her house whenever her mother goes to the market in the disguise of helping her with her assignments.
The X user sharing the update wrote, “This 9 years old girl has been constantly molested and raped since last year by someone faking to help her do her assignments. This is happening in Benin City. This is so troubling to me, and her mother, who tried to intervene, is being threatened.Nigeria save this girl and her mother!”
The young girl speaking in the video said, “ The ebube own, the time wey my mummy go market, he go come our house say he wan help me do my assignment, he go put me on his lap dey do my assignment after he do my assignment finish, he go tell my siblings make them go outside say na my homework he wan do.
“After, he go con carry me inside room, he go come remove my pant, if I wan shout, he go close my mouth.”
When asked about when the act began, she stated that the molestation started in October 2023.
Speaking about the other person, identified as John, she said, “The last person na John, he stays opposite our compound.”
In a separate post by the same X user, the mother of the victim, Mama Grace, also shared her side of the story.
When she discovered the issue, Mama Grace noted that she took the daughter to the hospital and single-handedly footed the bills.
She said, “The people wey do all these one, dem look am say I no get anybody wey go fight for me, they never come to ask for the pikin’. Na me dey pay all the hospital bills.”
Mama Grace further stated that when she confronted one of the perpetrators, she was beaten and harassed.
Reacting to the post, a legal organization, #Citizen_gavel, stated that after consultation with the mother of the victim, it was established that the alleged perpetrators are three, and one of them in his 50s, is currently on the run while the other two are walking freely.
They noted that further investigation would be done to pursue a legal case.
