The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Jennifer Adighije, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to providing reliable electricity across Nigeria, saying stable power supply is essential for business growth and economic development.

According to The Punch, Adighije made the commitment in a goodwill message to mark Democracy Day, where she stressed the importance of dependable electricity in empowering citizens, strengthening industries and deepening the gains of democracy.

She said access to stable power remains critical for industrial expansion, job creation, improved productivity and the development of stronger communities.

“At NDPHC, we remain committed to delivering reliable electricity that drives industries, empowers communities, and fuels national progress,” Adighije said.

She noted that electricity should be viewed not just as a utility service but as a key driver of economic prosperity, adding that businesses require predictable power supply to operate efficiently and expand sustainably.

Adighije highlighted the company’s Eligible Customer Programme, describing it as a strategic initiative that enables large industrial and commercial consumers to access reliable electricity directly.

“Our Eligible Customer Programme gives businesses reliable, predictable electricity so they can focus on scaling operations, not power outages,” she stated.

According to her, the programme helps businesses reduce energy-related uncertainties, minimise operational disruptions and improve competitiveness through consistent power supply.

The NDPHC boss reiterated the company’s determination to support Nigeria’s economic transformation through strategic power interventions, noting that improved electricity access would continue to play a crucial role in unlocking industrial growth and strengthening the dividends of democracy.

She also called for greater collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders to build a more resilient power sector capable of meeting the country’s growing energy demands.

Adighije further emphasised that reliable electricity remains a major catalyst for manufacturing growth, commercial expansion and job creation, making initiatives such as the Eligible Customer Programme critical to Nigeria’s economic development agenda.

According to NDPHC, businesses participating in the programme stand to benefit from improved operational efficiency, reduced energy costs and long-term energy security.

The company added that stable electricity supply would enable firms to increase production, reduce downtime caused by outages and channel savings into expansion, innovation and business development.

It also noted that the Light Up Nigeria Project represents another step towards improving electricity access for productive users, strengthening industrial capacity and supporting sustainable economic growth across the country.
