The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has intercepted cocaine hidden inside the walls of several suitcases.
This was made known on Sunday by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, who posted videos of the operation on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
According to Babafemi, the smugglers went to great lengths to conceal the drugs. He said they used a factory-style method to carefully fit the cocaine into the linings of the suitcases.
“Narco-trend update: Strewing the walls of suitcases, in factory fitting precision, with cocaine, must have taken lot of efforts and resources,” he wrote.
“But at the end, NDLEA officers still uncovered all, as revealed in these videos that captured the latest seizure.”
In the videos shared, NDLEA operatives were seen using sharp tools to cut through the inner layers of the luggage and pull out packs of the illegal drug hidden inside.
The agency has not yet revealed how many suspects were arrested or the total weight of the cocaine, but the videos show that the quantity was large.
This latest seizure comes as NDLEA continues to step up its fight against drug trafficking across Nigeria. The agency has urged members of the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
So far, the NDLEA has made several high-profile arrests and seizures this year, as smugglers continue to come up with new methods to hide and transport hard drugs.
