NDLEA arrests terrorists’ drug supplier in Borno

The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency has reported the arrest of a 42-year-old man, Ahmad Mohammed, who was responsible for supplying drugs to insurgents in Borno State.

The suspect was among 24 suspected traffickers and dealers recently apprehended by NDLEA operatives.

According to, the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi Mohammed was supplying illicit drugs to insurgents in Banki, a border region between Nigeria and Cameroon.

He was apprehended by NDLEA operatives on Friday, February 9, at a checkpoint in Borno State.

“When his luggage was searched, 20,000 capsules of tramadol were recovered from him while on his way to deliver the opioid consignment in the border town,” stated Babafemi.

The NDLEA also disclosed other successful operations, including the interception of a truck carrying 367 jumbo bags of cannabis sativa weighing 4,037 kilograms in Akure, Ondo state. Three suspects were arrested in connection with this seizure.

Additionally, operatives in Abuja arrested individuals transporting compressed cannabis sativa weighing 1,961.5 kilograms concealed in a truck along the Abaji–Abuja highway.

In separate operations, suspects were arrested in Owo, Ondo state, and in Sapele road, Edo state, with significant quantities of psychoactive substances. The NDLEA also made arrests in Kano, Anambra, and Lagos, with individuals caught trafficking tramadol, cannabis, and other illicit substances.

Among those arrested were a six-month pregnant woman, Amarachi Akaolisa, and another lady, Ifeoma Iheanyi, in Anambra, for dealing in illicit substances.

In Lagos, two ladies, Boluwatife Adebayo and Omolade Fola Adebayo, were arrested during raids in parts of the state on Saturday, February 10.
