Super Eagles captain, Wilfred Ndidi, has strongly criticised Beşiktaş J.K. following their frustrating 0-0 stalemate against Fatih Karagümrük S.K. in a Turkish Super Lig encounter on Monday at the Tüpraş Stadium.
The midfielder expressed his dissatisfaction after the team failed to turn their control and scoring opportunities into goals during the Round 31 clash.
His remarks came in a candid post-match reaction after a performance that lacked cutting edge despite sustained pressure.
“The draw is very disappointing. We started the game badly, we couldn’t find a solution in the first half,” Ndidi said, as quoted by NTV Spor, reflecting on a disjointed opening half in which Beşiktaş struggled to unlock a well-organised Karagümrük defence.
Although the hosts improved after the interval and fashioned several clear-cut chances—including a header that struck the post and a missed effort from close range—they were ultimately undone by poor finishing in front of goal.
“We needed to react in the second half, but overall we were bad. This is unacceptable. We will focus on the next game and we have to do better,” Ndidi added, emphasizing the team’s inability to sustain consistent pressure despite multiple attacking moments.
Beşiktaş came closest through El Bilal Touré, who rattled the crossbar, while Ndidi himself saw a late header crash against the post. The hosts were further denied by an impressive display from Karagümrük goalkeeper Ivo Grbić, who made several crucial saves to preserve the clean sheet.
In the end, Beşiktaş were left to rue missed chances in a match they largely dominated, while Karagümrük walked away with a hard-earned point thanks to a disciplined defensive performance.
