The Niger Delta Development Commission has warned Nigerians to be careful of scammers offering fake foreign postgraduate scholarships.

In a statement released on Sunday in Port Harcourt, the NDDC said fraudsters have been sending fake emails to people, pretending to be from the commission.

The Director of Corporate Affairs at NDDC, Mrs Seledi Thompson-Wakama, said the emails are sent from a fake address, [nddcregistry@gmail.com](mailto:nddcregistry@gmail.com), and invite applicants to a supposed document verification exercise in Lagos.

“The attention of the NDDC has been drawn to fraudulent emails and messages sent to applicants of the commission’s Postgraduate Foreign Scholarship Programme,” she said.

According to her, the fake exercise is said to be happening between May 19 and May 21 on Bishop Oluwole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Thompson-Wakama made it clear that NDDC has no connection with this event or with those emails.

“Members of the public are hereby advised that the NDDC has no affiliation with this fraudulent selection process,” she stated.

She also warned applicants not to respond to messages that ask for money or personal information in exchange for scholarship offers.

“Applicants are strongly advised to disregard any unsolicited messages requesting money, invitation, sensitive information, or offering scholarship placements outside of the official NDDC procedures,” she added.

The commission reminded the public that all official scholarship information comes only from its official portal: [www.scholarship.nddc.gov.ng](http://www.scholarship.nddc.gov.ng).

Thompson-Wakama advised anyone who receives such scam messages to report them immediately to the police or other relevant authorities.

“We also advise former beneficiaries of the commission’s programmes and prospective applicants to verify all information through the NDDC’s official website: [www.nddc.gov.ng,”](http://www.nddc.gov.ng,”) she said.

She called on Nigerians to stay alert and not fall for fake offers or fraudsters claiming to represent the NDDC.
