COVID-19: Ghana’s National day of prayer, fasting will shift things- Nathaniel Bassey

Gospel artist Nathaniel Bassey has unveiled plans for a special edition of his popular Hallelujah Challenge, titled the “Kirikiri Edition.”

The one-day worship event is scheduled for August 27, 2025, and will be held at the Kirikiri Medium Security Prison in Lagos.

In an announcement shared via his Instagram page, Bassey described the event as a personal birthday wish.

He explained that the initiative is rooted in his desire to bring hope and spiritual freedom to the inmates through an atmosphere of praise and worship.

The upcoming session will include musical worship, the sharing of meals with the prison community, and the presentation of scholarships to selected inmates.

According to Bassey, the event may not be streamed live due to security protocols but urged supporters to participate through prayer.

He expressed confidence that the session will have a transformative impact on the lives of the prisoners.

“Later this month, 27th August 2025, I would be leading my brethren in the kiri medium prison in a Hallelujah challenge Praise and worship special session,” he wrote.

“This is my heart’s desire for my birthday. We’ll praise, eat together and afterwards give out some scholarships.”

Bassey also drew inspiration from a biblical reference for the event. “The first ever Hallelujah challenge was in Acts 16:25-26, when Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises to God. Though we may not stream this for security reasons, but you can pray along with us as we go. We trust God for liberty of the spirit and massive harvests of souls in Jesus’ name. Meanwhile, are you ready for the October edition?”

The regular edition of the Hallelujah Challenge is scheduled to return in October 2025.
