Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has called on traders to stop hoarding foodstuffs for profit, emphasizing the need for collective action to combat this practice.

Addressing members of the Nasarawa State Traders and Marketers Association at the Government House in Lafia, the governor expressed concern about some traders buying and hoarding essential food items, waiting for prices to rise before selling.

He highlighted the insensitivity of such actions, particularly during a time when many people struggle to afford basic necessities.

“It is high time we come together to help ourselves. It is inconsiderate for someone to hoard food items while waiting for the prices to soar before selling them,” the governor stated during the meeting.

He urged the traders’ association to educate its members about the negative impacts of hoarding, emphasizing that such practices contribute to food scarcity and worsen the suffering of the populace.
