The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, on Wednesday, locked out staff who failed to arrive at work on time.

The Speaker was unhappy with the staff’s lack of punctuality and warned that his administration will not tolerate such behavior.

Jatau made his rounds around the offices early in the morning to check staff attendance. “I was in the office as early as 8:30 am and I am disappointed with the poor attitude to work,” Jatau said. “The 7th assembly under my watch will not allow any staff to sabotage the functioning of the legislative institution.”

He emphasized the importance of discipline, saying, “Any organization that is not disciplined will not move forward. Staff must discipline themselves or we will discipline them.”

The Speaker also highlighted the efforts of the state government to improve workers’ welfare. “His Excellency is doing well and doing his best to improve the welfare of workers,” Jatau said. “The assembly under my watch will continue to prioritize the welfare of the staff, but I will not condone indiscipline.”

Jatau has instructed the Staff Officer to take action against any staff who is not punctual or fails to perform their duties as expected.

He reassured staff of his commitment to improving their welfare, but emphasized that they must meet their responsibilities.
