The United States space agency, NASA, has responded to reality star Kim Kardashian’s claim that the 1969 moon landing never happened.
During an episode of her reality show, *The Kardashians*, Kardashian told actress Sarah Paulson that she believed the first moon landing was fake, saying she had seen interviews where astronaut Buzz Aldrin supposedly admitted it didn’t happen.
“I think it was fake. I’ve seen a few videos on Buzz Aldrin talking about how it didn’t happen. He says it all the time now in interviews,” Kardashian said during the show.
Reacting to her claim, NASA’s acting administrator, Sean Duffy, took to X to set the record straight. “Yes, we’ve been to the moon before… six times!” he wrote, tagging Kardashian in the post.
Duffy also used the opportunity to promote NASA’s ongoing Artemis mission, which aims to return humans to the moon. “We won the last space race and we will win this one too,” he added.
Kardashian later replied, asking Duffy about a comet named 3I/Atlas, which astronomers believe could be one of the oldest ever recorded. “Wait… what’s the tea on 3I Atlas?!” she wrote.
Duffy then invited the TV star to attend the launch of the Artemis mission at the Kennedy Space Center.
For over five decades, conspiracy theories claiming the Apollo 11 moon landing was staged have circulated widely, especially online. However, scientists and experts have repeatedly debunked such claims.
The Institute of Physics has stated that “every single argument claiming that NASA faked the moon landings has been discredited.”
