Napoli seals dramatic win with Kvaratskhelia’s late strike

Published

Napoli orchestrated a dramatic late turnaround, propelled by a remarkable strike from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, to secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over relegation-threatened Hellas Verona at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Sunday.

In the first half, Verona posed sporadic threats, eventually breaking the deadlock through Diego Coppola in the 72nd minute.

However, the game transformed as Napoli rediscovered their momentum, equalizing through Cyril Ngonge, who recently transferred from Verona in January, where he had tallied six goals earlier in the season.

Kvaratskhelia, making his return from suspension, sealed Napoli’s comeback with a stunning strike from 25 yards out, eluding Lorenzo Montipo’s grasp and clinching a crucial victory for the hosts.

The win propels Napoli into seventh place, trailing fourth-placed Atalanta by just one point, as they set their sights on securing the final Champions League qualification spot.

Additionally, Napoli prepares for a forthcoming round-of-16 showdown against Barcelona in the prestigious tournament.

On the contrary, Verona finds themselves mired in 18th place, facing the looming specter of relegation. The defeat extends their winless streak to three matches and extends their drought without an away victory since the Serie A season’s opening day.
