The National Association of Nigerian Students has announced the reinstatement of the suspended Students’ Union Government President of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, James Adio.

According to The Punch, NANS President, Akinteye Babatunde, confirmed the development in a post on X on Wednesday after earlier stating that the university’s Senate would review Adio’s suspension following engagements with the institution’s management.

“Finally, Comrade Adio, the FUOYE SUG President, has been officially reinstated,” Babatunde wrote.

The development comes after NANS disclosed that it had secured the reinstatement of some students who were previously suspended by the university following sustained discussions with the management.

Babatunde had earlier expressed confidence that the university would give Adio a fair hearing, saying the Senate would consider his case in the interest of justice and his academic pursuits.

He also noted that the affected students had been reinstated and allowed to participate in their examinations.

Adio was suspended alongside two other students over alleged financial irregularities involving practical fees, a decision that drew criticism from NANS.
