The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has refunded ₦301.56 million to 4,936 pilgrims from Kebbi State who participated in the 2023 Hajj.

Each pilgrim is to receive ₦61,080 as compensation for services that were not provided during the pilgrimage.

The Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Faruku Enabo, confirmed the development during a meeting on the refund process.

“The money has been deposited into the agency’s account for distribution to the pilgrims. Upon receiving the funds from NAHCON, I informed the governor, who directed me to begin the refund process, with the chairmen of the 21 local government areas as witnesses,” Enabo said.

He called on the council chairmen to monitor the exercise and ensure that all affected pilgrims receive their refunds. Enabo also stated that security agencies would oversee the process to guarantee transparency.

The refund aligns with NAHCON’s directive to compensate pilgrims for services that were not delivered during the 2023 Hajj exercise.
