The Nigerian Air Force has executed a series of coordinated airstrikes against key Boko Haram locations in the Mandara Mountains, Borno State, resulting in the destruction of critical infrastructure and the deaths of several insurgents.
The strikes, carried out on Saturday, July 6, were part of Operation Hadin Kai and focused on the Wa Jahode and Loghpere enclaves—known hideouts of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad faction—located along the Nigeria-Cameroon border.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Monday.
“In a major blow to insurgent elements in Nigeria’s North-East, the Nigerian Air Force launched precision airstrikes on 6 July 2025 against key terrorist hideouts deep within the Mandara Mountains,” he said.
He stated that the operation was informed by reliable intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance reports, which identified multiple structures marked by solar panels, black flags, and fortified defenses—indicators of active militant presence and potential planning for coordinated attacks.
“The locations had recently witnessed increased terrorist activity, including logistics buildup and the presence of senior JAS commanders,” Ejodame noted. “In response, our aircraft carried out well-planned air interdictions, targeting and destroying several high-value facilities such as logistics warehouses, command centres, and fortified shelters.”
He confirmed that a number of insurgents were killed during the airstrikes, dealing a significant blow to the group’s operational capabilities.
“Several terrorists were neutralised in the operation, effectively cutting off their supply lines and weakening their ability to launch further attacks,” he said.
Ejodame reiterated the Air Force’s dedication to national security and emphasized that offensive operations would continue until stability is restored in all affected areas.
“The Nigerian Air Force remains steadfast in its mission to rid the country of terrorism and ensure lasting peace across Nigeria,” he added.
