The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed the elimination of over 25 terrorists in a coordinated night-time air operation conducted in Bula, located in Yobe State, and the Banki axis of Borno State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by the Director of Public Relations and Information of the NAF, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet.
According to the statement, the operations were carried out on September 18 following actionable intelligence provided by ground forces. The air strikes were executed using a combination of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms, along with strike aircraft, which tracked the movement of terrorist groups north of Banki.
He noted that real-time updates were provided to both ground troops and base operations, allowing for seamless coordination and precision during the mission.
“The strike aircraft engaged the terrorists in three successive precision strikes on their movement routes and assembly areas, effectively neutralising more than 25 fighters,” he stated.
“Post-strike surveillance confirmed ground forces remained in defensive positions, with no further threats observed,” he added.
Air Commodore Gabkwet emphasized that the operation highlights the NAF’s continued and decisive support to ground troops, aimed at denying terrorists operational freedom and reinforcing the military’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in Nigeria’s North-East region.
