The Nigerian Air Force has destroyed a major terrorist camp in the Sauri area of Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State, following a series of precision airstrikes.
The operation was carried out on November 14 by the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma.
In a statement released on Saturday through X, the NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the strikes came after detailed intelligence and surveillance confirmed heavy terrorist activity at the location.
Ejodame said troops discovered rustled livestock and fighters hiding on a high ground that served as both a defensive shield and a logistics centre for the group.
He said, “The Air Component executed multiple coordinated strike passes on the identified targets, achieving direct hits that dislodged surviving terrorists attempting to flee into surrounding vegetation, where they were subsequently tracked and effectively engaged.”
He added that the operation led to the destruction of key structures and supply points and the killing of several fighters.
“The successful mission resulted in the neutralisation of numerous terrorists and the destruction of critical structures and logistics points, significantly degrading the criminals’ operational capability in the area,” he said.
Ejodame also quoted the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, as restating the Force’s commitment to continued pressure on terror groups.
Aneke said the NAF would “find them, hunt them down, and protect our people.”
The Air Force said the success of the mission again shows the resolve of Operation Fansan Yamma to cut off terrorist safe havens in Zamfara and support wider national efforts to stabilise the North West.
WuzupNigeria earlier reported that on November 10, the NAF also carried out strikes on terror and bandit camps in Kwara, Borno, Katsina and other northern states, including ISWAP positions in Shuwaram and Mallam Fatori, bandit bases in Garin Dandi and Chigogo in Kwara, and Zango Hill in Kankara area of Katsina State.
