The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed that its fighter jets, under Operation Hadin Kai, killed many Boko Haram terrorists and destroyed their hideouts in Bita, Borno State.

The airstrike happened early Friday morning and targeted fleeing terrorists in the well-known insurgent area in the North-East.

In a statement released on Friday, the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the air operation was a big step forward in weakening the terrorists’ power in the region.

“The Nigerian Air Force through the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has recorded a major operational success against Boko Haram terrorists,” the statement said.

“In the early hours of today, NAF combat aircraft carried out precision airstrikes on fleeing terrorists in Bita, Borno State, neutralising scores of insurgents in what has been described as one of the most decisive blows against the group in recent times.”

He added that the operation was carefully planned and carried out in the dark, to catch the terrorists by surprise and destroy their ability to regroup.

“Ground forces have since commenced clearance and exploitation operations to consolidate on the gains achieved from the successful air strikes,” he said.

Ejodame assured Nigerians that the Air Force remains committed to protecting the country and will continue to target terrorist groups.

“All necessary measures are being taken to ensure that terrorist elements have no safe haven anywhere within the country,” he stated.
