The Nigerian Air Force, under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, has carried out airstrikes on Boko Haram strongholds in Degbewa and Chikide, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, neutralizing an undisclosed number of insurgents.

Sources in the military confirmed that the precision airstrikes, conducted around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, specifically targeted high-profile terrorist leaders.

Intelligence reports had indicated a large gathering of insurgents in the area, prompting the aerial assault.

Among the camps hit was one under the control of Ali Ngulde, a notorious Boko Haram commander.

While the exact number of casualties remains unknown, military sources revealed that several terrorists were killed, while others sustained injuries during the attack.

Efforts to obtain additional details from the spokesperson for Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Jingina, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls.

Meanwhile, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, has condemned the rising wave of terrorist attacks, killings, and kidnappings in communities across Southern Kaduna.

In a statement issued in Kaduna on Wednesday, the senator expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation, citing the recent abduction of 22 individuals—mostly women and children—in separate attacks in Kauru Local Government Area.

“These atrocities against our people must not continue unchecked. And it must stop now,” Katung declared.

He referenced Section 14(2)(b) of the Nigerian Constitution, which states that the security and welfare of citizens shall be the primary responsibility of the government, stressing that he would continue to push for enhanced security measures.

Katung urged security agencies to intensify efforts in protecting vulnerable communities and called on residents to cooperate by providing intelligence that could lead to the arrest of criminal elements and their collaborators.

With the security situation deteriorating in both the North-East and North-West, calls for a more coordinated and aggressive counterterrorism strategy continue to grow.
