The Nigerian Air Force announced that Yellow Jambros, a notorious terrorist and kidnap kingpin, was killed in an air strike conducted by the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch on December 6, 2023, in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to NAF spokesman Edward Gabkwet, Yellow Jambros, and his accomplices mistakenly believed that air strikes were halted after a recent incident in Kaduna.

Taking advantage of what they assumed was a suspension of air operations, the terrorists boldly rode on motorcycles in broad daylight.

The operation unfolded as Yellow Jambros and his cohorts, who had been tracked from Zamfara State into Niger State, were riding 13 motorcycles along the Kaduna-Niger State border toward Kusasu in Shiroro LGA.

Along the way, five additional motorcycle-riding terrorists joined their convoy, bringing the total to 18 motorcycles.

At the bank of River Jikudna, the terrorists and their 18 motorcycles attempted to cross using a large motor-powered canoe to link up with other terrorists on the opposite side.

It was at this critical moment that the authorization for the air strike was granted.

“The precision strike was adjudged effective as it neutralized Yellow Jambros and his colleagues, destroyed their motorcycles, and sank the boat,” reported Gabkwet.
