The Nigerian Air Force has killed many Boko Haram terrorists through air strikes in Borno State, targeting several key locations, including a high-level meeting site in Bula Marwa.

The operation aimed to weaken the terrorists’ activities in the northeastern region of Nigeria.

The spokesperson for the Air Force, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, confirmed in a statement on Monday that intelligence and surveillance missions observed heightened terrorist activity in Bula Marwa. The gathered intelligence indicated that the site served as a meeting place for Boko Haram leaders, with several terrorists arriving on motorcycles and gathering in large groups.

“Air strikes killed scores of Boko Haram terrorists at two key locations in Bula Marwa, Borno State,” Akinboyewa said. “Having identified Bula Marwa as a high-level meeting site for Boko Haram’s notorious figures, ISR [Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance] missions further confirmed heightened terrorist activity, revealing an influx of motorcycles and gatherings of combatants across the site.”

NAF quickly deployed fighter jets to the area. Upon reaching the site, surveillance footage captured terrorists assembling on 12 motorcycles. The first air strike was executed, hitting the target directly and dispersing the terrorists. ISR aircraft then observed several terrorists returning to assess the damage and evacuate injured fighters, prompting additional strikes that killed more terrorists.

Building on this success, the NAF conducted additional ISR missions later that day, spotting another group of terrorists gathering under a large tree at a second meeting location. “Upon verification, NAF air assets launched a precision airstrike on this location, achieving a direct hit and neutralizing numerous terrorists,” Akinboyewa added.

“These air operations struck a significant blow to planned terrorist activities, taking out multiple fighters and demolishing their motorcycles, thereby crippling their ability to launch ambushes or other hostile actions.”

Akinboyewa concluded by emphasizing the Air Force’s commitment to eliminating terrorist threats: “This impactful strike highlights the ongoing contributions of the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai to rid northeastern Nigeria of terrorist activities. The NAF remains committed to executing its mission with relentless precision, whether in joint or independent operations, to bring an end to terrorism as well as all other threats to the sovereignty and security of our Great Nation.”
