N25m fake drugs intercepted in Kano
The Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has a truck loaded with fake drugs worth N25 million in Sabon Gari quarters, Fagge local government area of the state.
A statement by the Agency’s Public Relations Officer, Nabilusi Abubakar on Sunday said the suspected fake drugs were intercepted at the New Road park, Sabon Gari for distribution.
The statement explained that some of the drugs included Arofranil (sex enhancer for men) were confiscated after an intelligence report revealed that it had no NAFDAC registration.
According to him, a total of five thousand (5,000) sachets of the drugs were taken into custody by the men of the agency while efforts to apprehend owners were not successful at the time of the raid as they abandoned the items and took to their heels.
He said the agency would hand over the drugs to the state’s Ministry of Health’s Task Force Committee on fake drugs for further actions.
The Managing Director of the Agency, Baffa Dan’agundi has called for continuous support from the public to enable the Agency to carry out its statutory duties effectively for the good of the state.
