The family of the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Lekan Balogun, on Friday said the abductors of their twins had reduced the ransom from N100m to N40m.

The five-year-old twins were abducted with their mother in front of the Akobo, Ibadan home of the Otun Olubadan on Tuesday. The mother was later released after driving them to an unknown location while they went away with the twins.

Balogun’s brother, Bashiru, who confirmed the new ransom, said members of the family had been praying for the return of the twins and quick recovery of their mother who is receiving treatment for shock in the hospital.

He added that it would be difficult for the family to raise the sum demanded, saying that Balogun, since his retirement from politics, had concentrated on traditional matters while his businesses struggle due to the economic situation in the country.

He said,

“We are equally hoping and relying on the efforts of the security agents to secure the release of the innocent kids. I equally want to plead with the abductors to please, in the name of God and anything that is good, to spare us this trauma and release the innocent children, who can hardly differentiate their left from right.

“People can place themselves in her condition to know what she would be going through; two children at once. It’s not easy and that’s why I’m reiterating my call on the abductors to please have mercy on us.”
