The father of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, Joseph Aloba, has revealed that his life took a positive turn after the tragic passing of his son.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Akin Abolade, also known as Mrlilgaga, Aloba attributed his improved living conditions to the intervention of compassionate Nigerians, whom he believes were influenced by both God and the spirit of his late son.

“Yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death,” Aloba stated.

“He had plans to do many things for me, but they didn’t let him. After his death, it was his spirit and God that began to send people to assist me. Even the car and everything I have now were gifts from people. It is beyond ordinary.”

Aloba claimed that Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, and her family played a significant role in his son’s struggles. He alleged that all of Mohbad’s landed properties are currently in their possession.

“The land he bought for me to build a church was where he was buried,” he said. “Two weeks before his death, he showed me a house he planned to buy after his tour. He had fully paid for it.”

Aloba, a carpenter, pastor, and singer, shared how his late son’s birth changed his life trajectory. He disclosed that Mohbad became his backup singer at just one year old after money from his naming ceremony was stolen, forcing him to explore music.

The grieving father also took Mrlilgaga on a tour of his new block industry and showed off his new truck and a Toyota Highlander SUV, both of which were gifts from well-wishers following his son’s death.

“I never expected all these blessings,” Aloba said. “It is the spirit of Mohbad and God that sent people to bless me.”

He further revealed that he has recorded nine new songs since Mohbad’s passing.

Mohbad died on September 11, 2023, in Lagos, at the age of 26. His death sparked nationwide outrage, with many calling for justice and accountability.

The Lagos State Police Command arrested a nurse who reportedly administered a Tetanus vaccine to the late singer before his death. The nurse was found to be unlicensed.

As the investigation continues, Mohbad’s legacy lives on through his music, while his father embarks on a journey to fulfill his late son’s dreams of uplifting the family.
