Actress Osas Ighodaro has opened up about her first on-screen kiss in Nollywood, revealing how the experience took her completely by surprise.
Speaking on an episode of The Culture League podcast, Ighodaro recalled the moment with her co-star, describing it as her first rude shock in the Nigerian film industry.
“My first on-screen kiss in Nigeria took me by surprise,” Ighodaro began. “Though I knew the kiss was coming and I was prepared for an ‘on-screen kiss,’ the actor unexpectedly used his tongue, which wasn’t what I was prepared for.”
She explained that such intimate moments should ideally be discussed beforehand to set clear boundaries between the actors. “In my experience, you are not supposed to put your tongue down somebody’s mouth. But the person did. On the basic level, if you are going to do an on-screen kiss, you talk about it: ‘Oh, I’m going to put my tongue in your mouth.’ But if you don’t talk about it, then you know it’s the basics,” she added.
Ighodaro, who has starred in notable Nollywood films like Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story and Man of God, emphasized the importance of communication when filming intimate scenes. Her candid reflection highlights the need for clear agreements to ensure comfort on set.
As a talented and versatile actress, Ighodaro continues to impress audiences with her performances, having won multiple awards for her work in Nollywood.
