Coronavirus: Actor Jackie Chan reacts to rumours of him getting infected

Popular action star Jackie Chan has shocked fans by revealing that his father was a Chinese spy and that Jackie Chan is not even his real name.

The 70-year-old actor made the surprising revelation in a recent documentary about his life and career. In the film, he shared deep secrets about his family, especially about his father, who worked as a spy for the Chinese Nationalist Party.

According to Chan, his father used several fake names to hide his identity during his years working as a spy in China. This included using the name “Chan Chi-Ping,” which later became Jackie Chan’s official surname.

“I always knew my father had a mysterious past, but I didn’t know he was a spy until much later in life,” Chan said in the documentary. “He never told me when I was young. I think he wanted to protect me.”

Jackie Chan also revealed that his real name at birth was Chan Kong-sang, which means “born in Hong Kong.” However, his family later changed the name for safety reasons.

In the documentary, it was revealed that his father, originally named Fang Daolong, had once been forced to flee from China after getting into trouble. He later worked in Hong Kong as a cook and guard before settling in Australia. Jackie’s mother also had a hidden past, as she once worked as an opium smuggler before turning her life around.

Jackie said, “My parents lived very hard lives before I was born. They had to do what they could to survive. It makes me respect them even more.”

The documentary also shows that Jackie Chan was sent to a strict Chinese opera school at a young age, where he trained in martial arts, acrobatics, and acting. That training later helped him become a world-famous actor known for performing his own stunts in movies like Rush Hour, Police Story, and Drunken Master.

Many fans online have reacted with surprise and respect. One person commented, “Jackie Chan’s life is more interesting than any movie he’s ever made.” Another wrote, “I can’t believe he never told anyone about his father being a spy all these years.”

Jackie Chan has won several awards for his work in film and is known around the world for his talent, hard work, and humility. But this latest story about his real name and family history has given fans a new view of the superstar’s life.

He ended the documentary by saying, “No matter where I come from or what my real name is, I’m proud of who I am. I’m thankful to my parents and to everyone who has supported me on this journey.”
