American tech billionaire Elon Musk has lost $33.9 billion from his net worth in just one day, following an open fight with United States President Donald Trump.
According to Bloomberg, the drop in Musk’s wealth on Friday is one of the biggest single-day losses in recent history. The report said Tesla’s shares fell by 14 percent, bringing Musk’s total wealth down from $368 billion to $335 billion.
Bloomberg Billionaire Index also revealed that Musk has now lost almost $98 billion in 2025 alone, which is a 22.6 percent drop.
The sharp fall comes as tensions between Musk and Trump continue to rise. The two were once close allies during Trump’s second term in office, but things changed after Musk publicly rejected Trump’s latest tax and spending bill.
Speaking to journalists in Washington earlier this week, President Trump said, “I’m very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here. All of a sudden he had a problem.”
In response, Musk posted on his X platform on Thursday, calling Trump ungrateful. “Such ingratitude,” Musk wrote, claiming he helped Trump become president.
The argument has grown worse, with Musk now calling for Trump’s impeachment. He also made unproven claims linking Trump to the late Jeffrey Epstein, a man who was involved in a sex trafficking scandal before his death in 2019.
Reacting to the attacks, President Trump said Musk “just went CRAZY” and warned that he could cancel government contracts with Musk’s companies, including Tesla and SpaceX.
“The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
The bitter exchange between the two powerful men is now affecting business and politics. Analysts say the fallout could continue to shake the stock market and influence upcoming political decisions in the U.S.
