Residents, motorists and anyone having any business in and around Ogba, Lagos have been warned to steer clear of the area or remain indoors over an ongoing violent clash between commercial motorcyclists, better known as okada riders, and the police.

WUZUPNIGERIA gathered that the clash was allegedly sparked on Thursday by the alleged shooting of an Okada rider by a police officer who had refused to pay for the service rendered to him by the rider.

A source, speaking on condition of anonymity said that two people were allegedly killed in the area late Thursday.

“It’s a bike man vs policemen fight. An Okada rider rendered a service to a policeman yesterday, then asked for money after dropping him off. He was shot by the policeman who refused to pay him.

“There was a sporadic shooting this morning. Like some minutes ago. And all the Okada riders are off their bikes getting ready for a riot,” the source said.

Netizens have taken to Twitter to warn fellow Nigerians to avoid the area as there have been reports of multiple gunshots.

He wrote:

“Please if you plan to go to Ogba, Berger or Ikeja Lagos today, please stay indoors… gunshots everywhere. I understand Police and bikemen are fighting.

“The youths mainly Hausa bike men are trying to burn down the police station cos one of them got killed last night by the police.”

Also confirming the incident, one Tim Meduna a.k.a @Blvck_Meduna on Twitter, said he had to scamper for dear life as the police and hoodlums engaged in some gun duel.
