Multiple accidents kill three, injure one on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
At least three commuters have been killed in the early hours of Friday after multiple accidents occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Sector Command, confirmed the accidents, noting that another person sustained an injury during the crash which occurred at 5.22 a.m. about 200 metres away from the DANCO filling station.
According to The Nation, the crash involved four vehicles – Iveco truck SS 517XA, Man diesel T- 8493LA and two unmarked Howo trucks.
Ogun FRSC’s Public Education Office, Superintendent Route Commander Florence Okpe said that the accident was caused by excessive speed.
“A total of 09 persons were involved in the crash and all-male adult, 01 person was injured, 03 persons were recorded dead from the crash and others unhurt.
“The suspected cause of the multiple crashes was speed which led to the loss of control on the part of one of the vehicles.
“The injured victim refused to be taken to hospital for medical attention. The 03 corpses were deposited at Idera Hospital Mortuary,” she said.
