MultiChoice Nigeria has reduced the price of its DStv decoder by 50 per cent, bringing it down from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000, in a move to win back customers and boost falling subscriptions.

The company’s Chief Executive Officer, John Ugbe, made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday. He said the slash was part of the ‘We Got You’ campaign, which is aimed at rewarding loyal customers and making premium content more affordable.

“We want to ensure our customers feel appreciated and have access to the best entertainment every day,” Ugbe said. “This campaign is about making DStv more than just a sports platform. It’s for everyone, movie lovers, children, drama fans, and news watchers.”

The company also introduced a free upgrade offer, which allows customers who fully pay for their current plan between June 16 and July 31, 2025, to enjoy the next package level at no extra cost.

MultiChoice explained that the changes are part of efforts to ease the burden of economic hardship on Nigerians and encourage more people to enjoy DStv content daily. This comes after the company lost 1.4 million subscribers between March 2023 and March 2025.

The price slash follows multiple price increases on DStv and GOtv packages within the last year, including hikes in April and November 2023, and another in May 2024.
