Nigerian rapper Okafor Victor, popularly known as Mr Real, has publicly apologised to veteran singer Oladapo Oyebanjo (D’banj), retracting his earlier accusations of financial exploitation linked to their past collaboration.

Mr Real made the apology in a video shared on his social media pages, where he expressed regret over the tone and manner in which he raised the allegations and pledged to resolve the matter amicably.

“This video is an apology video to my boss, the legendary Koko Master, the D’Banj,” he said.

“I want to use this opportunity to apologise to Koko Master. I know most of you must have seen the happenings between me, the D’Bangj, and Cream platform.

“I misunderstood and I misinterpreted some things concerning Cream platform, and I want to use this opportunity to say I am very, very sorry.”

The rapper acknowledged the role D’banj played in his career and described him as a mentor and father figure.

“To the D’Banj, you played a big role in my life, in my career. I wouldn’t deny that,” he said.

“You’re not my father, but I take you as a father, I take you as a mentor, and I still take you as one. I am very sorry. Please forgive me.”

Mr Real also promised to cooperate fully with legal processes arising from the dispute.

“I promise to follow the legal action and also give full support and cooperation from my own end,” he added.

He further thanked Ara, the Queen of Drums, and the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria for their roles in facilitating reconciliation.

The apology follows comments made by Mr Real in interviews and on social media between November and December 2025, where he alleged that D’banj exploited him during a two-year collaboration, including claims that he was paid only 500 dollars and that a ₦20 million ambassadorial deal was not honoured.

The allegations sparked widespread controversy and led to legal action.

In a court summons dated December 18, 2025, Chief Magistrate Farida Ibrahim directed Mr Real to appear before the court on January 19, 2026, following a complaint filed by D’banj.

The petition, filed by D’banj’s lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, argued that the rapper’s statements were defamatory and capable of damaging the singer’s reputation.

“The defendant should be restrained from further publishing, disseminating, broadcasting or circulating any defamatory videos, comments, statements or publications against the complainant,” the petition read.

D’banj is yet to publicly react to Mr Real’s apology as of the time of filing this report.
