Popular Nigerian comedian, Debo Adebayo, aka Mr Macaroni, has suspected that the arrest of Nigerian fast-rising stars, Omah Lay and Tems, in Uganda was a set up.

Both singers were arrested after their performances at The Big Brunch, which held at Speke Resort, Wavamunno Rd, Kampala, Uganda for allegedly breaching the country’s COVID-19 guidelines.

The news of the duo’s arrest took Nigerians by surprise on Sunday and reports coming in today revealed that the musicians would be jailed until December 16, 2020.

Reacting to the situation via his verified Twitter handle, Mr Macaroni suggested that the singers were set up for the arrest in Uganda.

Speaking further, Mr Macaroni wondered why the show was not cancelled if the government has not permitted such event, adding that the Nigerian stars were only guests at the event and not the organizers of the show.

He, however, urged all to join voices together in other to ensure that the musicians get released.

His tweet read: “This is a Set-Up and we all must join voices together!! Did Omah Lay and Tems invite themselves to Uganda?? How do you arrest Nigerian Artistes in your country over a show that they didn’t organize?? Why didn’t they just postpone or cancel the show if shows weren’t allowed?”

“We need to know why Omah Lay, Tems and Muyiwa Awomiyi are in custody in Uganda!! How do you invite Nigerian Artistes to your country and detain them?? Uganda government, pls come correct!! Don’t use our Artists to play politics!!!

“This Tweet doesn’t say that Uganda Government invited Omah Lay and Tems!! For those of you that intentionally want to misquote this. It’s simple, Show Organizers in Uganda invited Nigerian Artistes… The Uganda Govt one way or the other are detaining our Artistes!! EOD,” he said in subsequent tweets.
