Jose Mourinho and Luciano Spaletti were both red-carded on Sunday as Roma and Napoli played a goalless draw at the Stadio Olimpico Stadium on Sunday night.

The stalemate marked an end to Napoli’s 100 per cent start to the Serie A season with Victor Osimehn and Lorenzo Insigne failing to get on the score sheet.

Both sides have played a goalless draw in a Serie A match at AS Roma’s home for the first time since February 1980.

The last draw in a Serie A match between both sides at AS Roma’s home ended 2-2 in April 2012 while the last goalless draw between both sides was in Napoli’s home in December 2015.

Mourinho received his marching orders in the 81st minute after an initial yellow card 19 minutes into the game.

Spaletti was red-carded after the final whistle by Referee Davide Massa after he appeared to sarcastically applaud the referee, according to The Athletic.

After winning their first eight matches, Napoli remain top of the summit but are on 25 points with AC Milan, AFP reports.

Milan are joint-top after securing a hard-fought 4-2 win against Bologna who were reduced to nine men after two red cards on Saturday.

The draw means Roma keep the record for the most wins from the start of a Serie A season, with 10 consecutive victories in 2013/14.
