A Police Inspector serving in Rivers State identified as Elisha Hamidu has been accused of abandonment by a certain Mary Hamidu.

Mary Hamidu is accusing the Inspector of abandoning her and her three children, thereby subjecting them to untold hardship.

Mary said her husband who is on special duty in Rivers has abdicated his responsibility as the father of their children, including nine-month-old twins, leaving her to exclusively shoulder the responsibility.

The middle-aged woman added that despite several interventions by colleagues, her husband has remained adamant in caring for their children.

She said:

“I have three children with Inspector Elisha Hamidu, he is not taking care of me or the children, all the burden is on me; even his AO has tried to put things in order, but he (Hamidu) refused, so I decided to go to Abuja where he went for special duty and meet him, still he gave us nothing, he only promised to send us money, but he did not give us anything.

“He said he would settle us after six months when his assignment in Abuja is over, but even after he was paid after his assignment there, he did not come to see the children or give us some money.”

Inspector Elisha Hamidu, on his part, denied abdicating his responsibility as alleged by the mother of Three, adding that he only fathered a son with her.

Inspector Hamidu, an indigene of Taraba state, attached to a construction company in Rivers state, said Mary was his lover and not his wife.

“I have one child, a son with her, not three, actually I did not marry her, we were only in a relationship when we had that child.

“I have been giving her money to feed the boy, whenever i give her money, she will travel to come and meet me wherever I am on special duty, this is the second time she has done that, she came to Abuja to disturb me where I was on special duty, now she is here in Port Harcourt.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, urged the aggrieved woman to visit the Police headquarters with her complain for quick intervention.
