TAMPAN summons actor, Yomi Fabiyi over movie ‘Oko Iyabo’

Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has revealed that he fled the country due to an alleged assassination attempt related to his involvement in protests demanding justice for the late singer Mohbad.

Fabiyi has been at the forefront of demonstrations following the mysterious death of Mohbad on September 12, 2023.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Fabiyi disclosed that he had received threats on his life, prompting him to leave Nigeria for his safety.

He said, “I had to jump on the next available flight because I have been marked for assassination,” Fabiyi said. ”

“For the first time in my life, I know they are going to take my life.”

Fabiyi confirmed that he reported the assassination threats to the authorities, stressing that he would not cease his pursuit of justice for Mohbad.

“I have given everything I have to the police. I just want to beg that nothing must happen to the sources I have mentioned,” he added.

The actor also called for critical evidence such as CCTV footage and phone forensics to be thoroughly investigated, stating, “The CCTV must be investigated, phone forensic is a must.”

He clarified that while he would not avoid sacrifice for justice, he believed his death would distract from the case.

“If they take my life, it will cause a serious distraction and stop the case.”

Fabiyi’s claims come after he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt a few days ago.

“I escaped the assassination two days ago. They wanted to get me at the protest to kill me tonight,” he revealed in a now-viral video.

“If they had killed me tonight, they would have buried me tomorrow. They will just kill me mercilessly because I’m fighting for justice.”

The actor’s absence from a planned protest at the Lagos State Assembly on September 30 had raised concerns. Fabiyi had initially scheduled another protest for Monday, coinciding with the coroner’s resumed investigation into Mohbad’s death.

Despite these threats, Fabiyi vowed to continue his fight for justice, declaring, “I did not collect money from anyone. I am just doing my own. I cannot use my body as an experiment, that is why I ran for my life.”

The investigation into Mohbad’s death remains ongoing, as public pressure mounts for accountability and transparency.
