Popular Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and socialite Balogun Samson, known as Sam Larry, were released from police custody on Friday after fulfilling their bail conditions.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed their release in a statement issued by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.

Hundeyin disclosed that Naira Marley and Sam Larry were granted bail in the sum of N20 million with three responsible sureties by a Lagos State Magistrates’ Court on Monday, November 6.

“Naira Marley and Sammy Larry, having met their bail conditions, have been released,” he said in a statement.

The magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, instructed the defendants to surrender their passports and ordered that they report weekly to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti.

Also as part of their bail conditions, the duo was required to surrender their passports.

“As part of the bail conditions, the defendants are to surrender their passports and make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department,” she said.

Their arrest was linked to an investigation into the death of singer Mohbad, following the circulation of videos online allegedly showing an assault against the late artist.

Nigerians have demanded an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death since his passing. Protests erupted in various parts of Nigeria as young people took to the streets to express their dissatisfaction with the singer’s passing.

Despite Mohbad’s burial less than two days after his passing, police authorities exhumed his remains. An autopsy was subsequently conducted, but the outcome has not yet been released.

The Federal Government also intervened in the matter, with the Senate visiting the late singer’s family and observing a moment of silence in honor of his passing
