Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has publicly defended music artist Naira Marley, who continues to face allegations linking him to the death of late singer Mohbad.
In a post shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, Okorie described Naira Marley as a peaceful and generous individual, recalling a personal experience that shaped her opinion of him.
“One of my birthdays, about the last three or four years ago, Naira Marley surprised me. He gave me lots of money. I was shocked. The encouragement he gave to me, nobody has ever given it to me in this demonic industry where you and I know people just envy you for nothing, for being yourself, for being bold, for talking and working so hard. People are just going to envy you,” she said.
The actress emphasized that in her interactions with him, Naira Marley had never exhibited any traits of aggression or violence.
“Naira Marley was too nice to me. He doesn’t even talk. He is not a fighter. He doesn’t even talk. The Naira Marley that I know is a sweet soul,” she added.
Okorie noted that his support came during a time when genuine encouragement in the entertainment industry was rare, which made the gesture stand out to her.
Naira Marley has remained at the center of public scrutiny over his alleged involvement in circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s untimely death, although he has denied any wrongdoing.
