Everton midfielder, Amadou Onana, has tipped Liverpool star Mohamed Salah to win this year’s Ballon d’Or award, praising him as the best player he has faced.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Onana described Salah as “the main man” right now in world football. Although the two players did not face off directly, the Belgian midfielder said playing against Liverpool made him realise just how dangerous the Egyptian forward is.
“I didn’t play directly against him, like not on a 1v1, but we played against Liverpool. And I think Mo Salah at the minute just is the main man,” Onana said.
“He’s really rapid, sharp, he’s got the finish, skillful, I think he’s got it all,” he added. “I think if he carries on what he’s doing, I think this might be a Ballon d’Or season.”
Salah is having one of his best seasons at Liverpool. The 31-year-old has scored 32 goals in 44 matches in all competitions this season, averaging 0.7 goals per game. He also leads the Premier League in both goals and assists, with 27 goals and 17 assists so far.
His incredible form has helped Liverpool remain in the title race and progress in Europe, making him one of the strongest candidates for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
Salah, who has finished in the top ten of the Ballon d’Or rankings several times, is now being widely backed to finally win the prestigious award this year if he continues with his current form.
