Modupe Atande: FUOYE students demand justice over colleague's death

Students of the Federal University Oye Ekiti are seeking justice for their fellow student, Modupe Atanda, who was killed mysteriously.

Atanda, who was discovered dead after she was declared missing for days, was a student in the Nursing Department at FUOYE.

Under the banner of the Students’ Union Government, these students are urging law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that those responsible for this heinous act are brought to justice.

The Ekiti State Police Command revealed that Modupe Atanda was found dead and buried in a shallow grave near the university’s Nursing Lecture Theatre.

The President of the FUOYE Students’ Union Government, Emmanuel Ajayi, and the Public Relations Officer, Elizabeth Akuraku, expressed their grief and said, “The cause of death and manner in which she died is a thing of great pain to the entire student populace in FUOYE.”

In a statement on their social media platform, the student leaders described their late colleague as “a precious and bright student” and demanded justice, saying, “We will not rest until the perpetrators are brought to justice.”

The Police Commissioner in Ekiti State, Dare Ogundare, pledged to uncover the identity of the perpetrator(s) and ensure they face the full consequences of the law. He urged anyone with valuable information to contact the authorities.

Ogundare’s statement mentioned that ten suspects were currently in custody and being investigated in connection with the case.

FUOYE management, in a statement by the University Registrar, Mufutau Ibrahim, confirmed the sad news of the student’s death and extended condolences to the family and university community.

They assured students and stakeholders that investigations were ongoing in collaboration with national security agencies to uncover the truth and bring the culprits to justice.
