Social commentator and renowned feminist, Ozzy Etomi, has attracted mixed reactions for “rudely” calling out her father on Twitter.

Trouble started when the opinionated feminist narrated how her father summoned her and her siblings for a family meeting without first consulting them.

According to Ozzy, her father does not have the right to summon grown adults, ages 28 – 37,  who have things to do with their precious times.

She further said that Nigerian parents don’t realize their kids become adults and they must cut the cord.

Ozzy tweeted;

“My dad sent a text round to my siblings and I on sat night for us to convene to see him Sunday at 2pm. When noone showed because, adults with lives, he said

“THIS IS INDISCIPLINE”. Lmao. Nigerian parents don’t realize their kids become adults and they must cut the cord

“How can you summon grown adults aged 28 – 37 like we don’t have poo of our own going on.

“Sir, we will see you at a time that works with everyone’s schedule, till then you know what that meins.”

However, many Twitter users said Ozzy went too far by disrespecting her father on Twitter.

Some opined that Ozzy’s ego gets the better part of her hence she doesn’t have regards for any man which includes her biological father.

Some also came to her defence saying everyone is guilty of disrespecting their parents.

Many also said the Nigerian custom does not encourage a child regardless of his or her age to openly disrespect their parents.

WuzupNaija reports that Ozzy Etomi had once said that she is refused to adopt her husband’s name because “I do not want to be passed on like a bottle of whisky from father to husband, switching names according to which man I now belong.

“The first time, I had no choice, I was born with that identity, but now as an adult, I have a choice of whether I choose to change my identity along with my marital status.

“I am super uninterested in the shitload of paperwork required. I am very close to my family; I am secure in my name. I know that my family has my back.

“Heaven forbid if something were to happen to my husband, or in the case of a divorce? I then hastily erase his name and tack on whatever new name another man has blessed me with? Women are out here getting re-branded more times than Google”.
