American rapper and actor, Ludacris, and his Gabonese wife, Eudoxie Mbouguiengue, are embroiled in colourism debate after the rapper said he is raising a “half-African light skinned baby.”
The rapper made this statement after he posted a video of his daughter dancing to a song by Nigerian songstress, Yemi Alade.
However, critics are having a field day in the comment section of his post questioning why the rapper referred to his daughter with her skin colour.
The comments gradually shifted to race, skin types and nationality.
“Colourism debate” has now become a trending topic amongst black Americans and their white counterparts.
Recall that actor Will Smith recently came under criticism amid reports that Smith will play the lead role of King Richard, an upcoming biopic about Richard Williams, the father of Serena and Venus.

“dblskinviral: @winksandkissesmua girl right. I’m tired of seeing comments when light skins can’t praise their skin but they ass can praise they self all day long with no issues. I wonder how some of this dark woman with like light skin daughters treat their daughter.. the mom probably got chocolate drop on her Facebook account but teaching her daughter that she’s still black.
“poly6446: @gracious__dee now if you’re referring to her nationality, well that would serve different. But where she originally derived from if she was to get a dna test, would probably be more African DNA. NOT American DNA.dblskinviral.

“gracious__dee: @poly6446 you people try so hard to sound woke . I have never seen such ignorant set of people in my life. Isn’t her mother Gabonese ? Isn’t her mother African ? Would it have been better if he said Gabonese child? Where is Gabon? The people from these continent Africa where are they from? She’s Gabonese American . She’s African and American . She’s from Africa and from America . You people stress me out. Aren’t you people entitled to free education, abi gbo gbo yi e lo si school ni?
“dblskinviral: @allthatjazz215 oh so when light skinned is mentioned, than” that’s why colorism is in the black community???” I literally never see these comments on dark skin girl pictures and posts that have captions about , chocolate drop, my dark skin beautiful , it’s all about melanin than right? But when it’s about light skin , it’s bad? Is it really causing colorism? Or is this just a word to use against light skins? It goes both ways , make up your mind folks and keep the same energy because y’all “this colorism ” people never be found until it’s about a light skin .
“My child is half american n her family says the same shit..they dont realize how colorism affects AFRICANs also plus luda having a lil fun..thats all..now thats #Ludacris????
“ksweetii: That man is describing HIS baby. So let me get this straight…only dark skin folks are allowed to be proud of the skin their in???? Mentioning that you’re light skin is forbidden???? Smh him mentioning that she’s light skin doesn’t mean she better than a dark skin person. Y’all automatically assumed that’s what he’s saying simply because that’s the way YALL THINK! Stop bleeding y’all own insecurities onto other folks. ALL SKiN TONES are beautiful. Period.
“poly6446: @gracious__dee well your people come to the US all the time for an education and better life so you tell me? And no education is not free in the US. And you clearly don’t know wtf you’re talking about…this has nothing to do with being “woke”…you clearly don’t even know what that entails for you to even use that word. Do you know what RACE is? Do you know what NATIONALITY is dimwittt?!!! There’s a difference between nationality, race, ethnicity and complexion. She is from African descent. You guys try so hard to discredit African American as being derived from Africa. Lmaoo. Stop your ignorance.
“winksandkissesmua:@latanyaburnett3292 it’s probably bc you know people will jump down your throat for it. Girl continue to love on and be proud of your babies. Light, brown, chocolate, see through… whatever complexion, they are yours and you are proud!!!
“nick_reiso: Skin tone means nothing she is just awsome!!
“poly6446: @gracious__dee you’ve never seen such ignorant people, yet you had no clue that in America white people are known as being Caucasian, because of their origin. African Americans are considered AFRICAN Americans because of their origin. Clearly Luda is just as dumb as you for his comment
“nicolebaddieting:@therapygal_wamby girl bye. nobody is being sensitive, its a genuine question ✋?
“winksandkissesmua: @dblskinviral it should be acceptable both ways. I think we as a whole (black people) need to be proud that we come in so many shades. That’s another thing about us that makes us lit!!
