Mixed reactions as El-Rufai enrols son in Capital School renovated with N195m
Nigerians on social media have expressed mixed feeling over the enrolment of the six-year-old son of Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai in a public primary school in the state on Monday.
El-Rufai had in 2017 declared his plan to lead by example by enrolling his son in a public school once he clocks six years to challenge other public office holders to also enrol their children in public schools.
He made good his vow on Monday when he was seen at the Kaduna Capital School with his wife registering his son Abubakar Sadiq at the school.
Photos of the governor and his family with some of his aides at the school went viral on Twitter on Monday and it has since sparked mixed reactions among social users.
While some commended the governor’s action, other social media users accused him of playing to the gallery, saying he deliberately splashed millions of naira on the renovation of the school a year ago because he had plans to enrol his son in the school.

Recall that the News Agency of Nigeria reports in 2018 that the Kaduna State Government renovated the 62-year-old school with N195 million to make it one of the best in the country.

After spending N195m to renovate a school , @elrufai enrolls his son in same school and it’s making headlines as an achievement.
E go tey for una for this country

Whether Elrufai renovated it before putting his kid there or not, I’m happy he kept his word and by renovating it, other kids benefit. Isn’t that what we want? I personally want public schools to have a good if not better standard than private schools. On this, he gets kudos.

Regardless of political differences, i think Kwankwaso and Elrufai are the only northern leaders we have that are very serious in modifying the Educational institutions in the North.

Wish my dad could spend #195 million on renovating the schools I went to just as @elrufai did.
I commend him for this and urge others to do the same.
“little drops of rain makes an ocean”. Imagine 145 schools getting renovated for 145 senators'(109) and governors'(36) kids(145). pic.twitter.com/da2NsBi452— Faunah (@IdyilS) September 23, 2019
The step taken by @elrufai is in the right direction; in order that the confidence of the people may be restored in public schools.
My late grandfather Shehu Shagari sent his children to public schools even as President. But so much has changed since then.

But before @elrufai, here in Sokoto, Gov. Bafarawa’s children all attended public school. The only difference between the two is that Bafarawa did NOT make any noise. He was accompanied NOT by any camera. #KudosBafarawa??

Why the noise around Elrufai enrolling his son at Capital School Kaduna ?
YEH I find it commendable but don’t make it look like it’s the DEAL, ex Gov of Lagos Jakande did it in the 70’s and mandate all in his cabinet to do same and they did
Will he renovate other school’s ?

You left Ganduje for destroying Alcohol but criticize Elrufai for spending 195m on a school before enrolling his child.
Has Buhari visited any public hospital he budgets for yearly?
Elrufai showed leadership but your bitter opposition mindset won’t let you be reasonable.

So much has changed such that while a man who truncated democracy and dethroned your grandfather has emerged your hero suddenly!
So much has changed. A man renovated Capital Sch with N192million before putting his kid and leaves other schools unattended to. pic.twitter.com/4aM6EyslsW

No way! Tell me this isn’t a government-owned school in the same Kaduna state. Or is this private-owned? So u mean all that was for photo ops. I just knew it from the onset. May our leaders find no peace since they have chosen to be miserable.

Why must you people always complain??? What he did is commendable
