Missing VON journalist found dead in Zamfara

According to the Nigeria Union of Journalists, a missing Zamfara journalist, Hamisu Danjibga, has been found dead.
Danjibga, a reporter with Voice of Nigeria, was declared missing earlier in the week. His body was found in a soakaway behind his house three days later.
The discovery of his corpse was made by Islamiya children, who observed an unpleasant odor on the evening of Wednesday, September 20, 2023. They drew their teachers’ attention, who then broke the soakaway open.
Danjibga’s family and neighbors confirmed that the body was his. His funeral rites have since been observed according to Islamic injunctions.
The NUJ has expressed its condolences to Danjibga’s family, VON, and the entire Zamfara state. The union also appealed to security agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to justice.
The circumstances surrounding Danjibga’s death are still unclear.
