Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has offered her support and assistance to the recently rescued students of the Federal University Gusau, following a harrowing incident where bandits kidnapped 25 female students from their hostels.

Fortunately, sixteen of these students have been successfully rescued by security forces.

During her visit to the university alongside Governor Dauda Lawal, Minister Edu assured the students of enhanced security measures and immediate humanitarian response to aid in their recovery process. She conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s deep concern about the incident and emphasized that every effort would be made to ensure the safe return of the remaining abducted students.

Minister Edu personally engaged with the rescued students and underscored the collaborative efforts between the federal and state governments to enhance security not only in Zamfara State but also across the entire North West region.

She stated, “I bring you the assurance of the president that those remaining students will be back. The president has put in place a security architecture in collaboration with Zamfara State government that will safeguard lives and property.”

Governor Lawal expressed his appreciation for Minister Edu’s visit and pledged the state government’s commitment to working closely with the federal government to create a safe and conducive learning environment while ensuring the protection of lives and property.
