The Military Pensions Board has taken a significant step towards enhancing its pension disbursement process by launching an electronic verification system.

The platform, known as the “Military Pensions Board Electronic Verification Management System,” aims to verify the eligibility of pensionable retirees, both within the country and abroad.

Chairman of the board, Paul Irumheson, announced this development during a press briefing held in Abuja.

He revealed that the electronic verification system would be instrumental in ensuring that pensionable retirees who are still alive and meet the eligibility criteria continue to receive their pensions.

In the initial phase of the pilot project, 10,800 retirees will undergo verification, with 300 retirees selected from each of the 36 states in the federation.

The platform’s primary objective is to swiftly identify and remove unqualified or deceased pensioners from the MPB’s payroll.

Irumheson, an Air Vice Marshal, highlighted the advancements brought about by the electronic verification system, noting that the board had previously conducted physical verifications at designated locations across the country.

The new system is expected to streamline the verification process, reduce the likelihood of errors, and enhance the overall efficiency of pension management for military retirees.
