Mike Okri stages comeback with self-titled EP

All is set for the release of veteran highlife musician, Mike Okri’s self-titled Extended Play record. The project is solely produced by the singer under his Mike Okri Entertainment Company.

The singer dominated the Nigerian music scene in the 80s and 1990s with hits songs like Rhumba Dance, Time Na Money, Okpeke, Wisdom, Oghenekevwe, and many others. However, he left the country over two decades ago and recently returned.

In a statement about his new project, Mike Okri EP, can be “likened to a profoundly beautiful piece of art on canvas, blended in the uniqueness of Afrohigh-life and western style. Mike’s music has strong musical lyrics in simple poetry. The music uplifts and heals the human spirit. An original Mike Okri trademark, it is backed by rhythm, harmony and soul which is called, ‘afro-mystic-soul’”.

The iconic singer has won several music awards including; the Nigerian Music Awards, Fame Music Awards and the Pan African Music Awards in Ghana. Okri has four music albums to his credit; Concert Fever, Rhumba Dance, Cracks and Rhythmysticals.
