Two men in court for alleged break-in, attempt to steal

Two men: Abah Isa ,21, and Abah Amusa, 23, were on Monday arraigned at an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for allegedly breaking into a house with the intention to steal.

The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, are facing three charges of conspiracy, burglary and attempt to steal.

The prosecutor, Insp.E.O.Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Jan.12, at about 3.00 a.m. at Mobil Filling Station, Obasanjo, Ota.

Adaraloye alleged that the defendants conspired among themselves to unlawfully damage a padlock valued N2,000 while attempting to burgle and steal from Sulaimon Ahmed’s apartment.

He said that the defendants were caught by the vigilance group and handed over to the police.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 451,509 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate A .O. Adeyemi admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety each in like sum.

Adeyemi ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.
