A former classmate of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, identified as Gladys, has been spotted in a fresh video released by the terrorist who abducted passengers of the Abuja-Kaduna bound AK9 train on March 28.

As seen in the recently released video, Gladys fought back tears while appealing to the Federal Government to come to their aid.

She said she was a classmate of the Vice President in the 1978/1979 Law school class and noted that she had a sickly child being taken care of by her.

She said, with her current stay in the terrorists’ den, she was disturbed by the plight of her son.

The latest video is surfacing a few days after the terrorists withdrew their threat to start killing the passengers in their custody should the Federal Government fail to meet their demands within seven days.

PUNCH Metro reported that parts of the demands were the unconditional release of their detained children held in an orphanage home in Adamawa State under the strict supervision of the Nigerian Army as well as the release of their detained comrades-at-arm.

Malam Tukur Mama, the Publisher of a Kaduna-based newspaper, Desert Herald, and spokesperson for the controversial cleric, Sheikh Ahmed Gumi, had on Sunday, said the terrorists had given the Federal Government two weeks, effective May 30, to release their eight children in the orphanage home in Adamawa State.

However, in the new video released by the terrorists on Monday, the Vice President’s classmate said, “My name is Gladys. I am pleading particularly with Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who was my classmate (in the) 78/79 Law School.

“You are a grandfather and a father; come to our aid because we have been here for 62 days and I have a son who is a sickler (is sickly); I don’t know his condition now.

“I am pleading that the federal government and Rotimi Amaechi, who is (was) the minister of transportation, please come to our assistance. I’m pleading. We are all sick. Right now I am even sick too. But for my son who is a sickler (is sickly), I don’t know his condition. I am appealing to the federal government.”

Another victim, Sadiq, who’s a son of the Convener of the Northern Elders’ Forum and former Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof. Ango Abdullahi, appealed to the Federal Government to come to their aid as “most of them are sick.”

He said, “We are appealing to the federal government to once again come to our aid. We have been here for 62 days. Most of us here are sick and we are not in good condition and every day the situation deteriorates. We are appealing to the federal government to please come to our aid before we start losing our lives.”

On March 28, 2022, terrorists planted explosives devices along the rail track and when the Abuja-Kaduna bound AK9 train approached the point, the device exploded, causing the train to derail, leading to the death of eight passengers.

A day after the attack, another passenger who suffered from a gunshot wound, died, making it nine, the total number of those killed in the attack.

From the manifest received by the Nigerian Railway Corporation, 398 passengers bought tickets but 362 were validated as having bought tickets. Over 60 passengers are still in the kidnappers’ den and had spent over 60 days in captivity.
